We all loved Gladys very much. Although I am very sad, I am happy that she is reunited with Doug, Mother and Daddy, and Eddie. She was my big sister, four years older than I am, and I will miss our conversations. George and I are lifting the entire family up in prayer and we are grateful that you all were able to spend precious time with her last week.

When I think about Aunt Gladys, I think of a lady who loved her kids, husband and extended family very much. I remember going to visit the Winchester family when I was little and the excitement that would follow the whole Cantler family when we would have special meals and sit on the porch and watch the traffic (you would think this to be boring for a little kid, but no). The Quisenberry sisters obviously loved each other and their parents very much. This was a great example in my own life.

Later I remember attending Aunt Gladys’ 50th wedding anniversary in Johnson City, and was very impressed by the large, deep, family for which Gladys and Doug were the root. We all attended their church the next day and very much enjoyed the participation that was evident from the whole family. What a great legacy. Later on I would see pictures on facebook or through my mom (her sister) and dad, of beach trips, or special grand kids events. What a treat.

Well I just want to tell whoever reads this that Gladys’ impact even reached into Maryland. I am proud to be her Nephew, and hope to see her again (and Doug and Eddie) in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I am very blessed to have known Aunt Gladys. One Thanksgiving after I joined the family, Aunt Gladys helped Nanny prepare the Thanksgiving meal. All the ladies gathered around the dining room table that evening after washing the dishes making angels for Christmas. Although I was completely unprepared with various Quisenberry traditions and craft supplies, Gladys was very gracious. The entire group of women shared supplies and made me feel welcome. I have very fond memories of the Cantler family and praying for all of you!
