Brandon Leonard, 36, Jonesborough, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 12, 2023, in Winston-Salem, NC. Brandon was a native of Fontana, CA, and grew up in Johnson City, where he attended Science Hill High School. He had recently lived in Winston-Salem. Brandon worked primarily in Restaurant Management. He attended church at The Dwelling in Winston-Salem, where he was involved in helping the homeless community. Whether it was running the shower trailer, dispensing clothing, or preparing and serving meals, Brandon used his story and experiences to encourage others. He had a gift for giving and restoring dignity to others. Brandon loved the outdoors, especially hiking and being on the water, but most of all, he loved his family, and was never fully happy unless he was with them. Brandon was preceded in death by his father, William Leonard, two brothers, Joshua King and Christopher Leonard, maternal grandmother, Emily Fleshman, and maternal grandfather, Bob Crum. He is survived by his mother, Angel Crum Milhorn, Jonesborough; son, Isaac Leonard, Waynesville, NC; sister, Kelly Leonard (Heather White), Johnson City; brother, Matthew Milhorn (Paige Peterson), Johnson City; three nephews, Greyson and Ryland Fox, Johnson City, Braylon Milhorn, Johnson City; two nieces, Isabella Frazier, Clarksville, and Laiken Milhorn, Johnson City; several aunts and uncles, including a special aunt, Marti McKinney, Jonesborough; and several cousins. The family will receive friends Monday, February 20, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. with a funeral service celebrating Brandon’s life to follow at 7:00 P.M., in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Pastor Emily Norris, officiating. The graveside committal service will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Those planning to attend are to meet at the funeral home by 9:30 A.M. to proceed to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
