William "Jerry" Gerald Taylor

September 20, 1937 - June 26, 2016

William "Jerry" Taylor, age 78, of Johnson City., went to be with the Lord, Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Washington County, he was a son of the late William M. and Beryl Buckles Taylor. He was a member of Buffalo Valley Christian Church and was a retired traveling union Pipefitter from the Local #538. Mr. Taylor loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved Nascar, football, and riding his Harley Davidson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Mike Taylor. Survivors include his wife, Vickie Taylor; one brother, Charles Taylor; Three sisters, Jean Langeroudi, Jackie Winters, and Cindi Taylor; six daughters, Rita Payne, Mitzi Campbell, Kimberly Ornduff, Sherry L. Taylor, Angie Chase, and Cathy Brant; one stepson, James Sommers; one stepdaughter, Rebecca Gillis, all of Johnson City and Jonesborough; 17 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; five special grandkids, Autumn, Ashlynn, and Aldan Sommers, Tiffany and Zachary Gillis. Many nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Taylor will be conducted on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 8:00 P.M. in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Pastor Roland Whittemore officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10:00 A.M, Thursday, June 30 from Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Those wishing to attend are requested to meet at the funeral home by 9:30 A.M Thursday to travel together to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be, Jeremy and Ethan Dockery, Chad Brant, Jason Fegyak, Eric Ornduff, and B.J. Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Barnes, Jimmy Ayers, and Wayne Winters.
