Wayne Bruce Phillips, age 70, of Johnson City, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at his residence following a lengthy illness. A lifelong native of Washington County, he was a son of the late Jacob R. and Ramona Crow Phillips. Mr. Phillips was a member of the Upper Room, Johnson City where he served as a Deacon. He truly loved the Lord and loved going to church. He also taught Sunday School. Mr. Phillips owned and operated several convenience stores throughout Johnson City, and also served as a Washington County Deputy. Some may know Mr. Phillips from the Washington County Convenience Center, which he operated. He was truly a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.In addition to his parents, Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda Cash and Frances Austin.Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Janie Delph Phillips, of the home; two daughters, Tammy Holscaw and husband Doyle, of Johnson City, and B.J. Burns, of Hampton; three sons, Robbie Phillips, Johnson City, Travis Williens, Elizabethton, and Shannon Faulkner, Newport, TN; grandchildren, Patrick, Sarah, Ashley, Tifanie, Taylor, Christian, Sidney, Stevie Lee, A.J., Chloe, Preston, Dalton, and Malachi; several great grandchildren; three brothers, Sam Phillips and Orville Phillips, both of Johnson City, Terry Phillips, Fall Branch; sister, Bertha Ratliff, Clarks Creek, Tennessee. Several nieces and nephews also survive.The funeral service for Mr. Phillips will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 27, 2019 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Smith, Rev. Terry Phillips, and Mr. Robbie Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:00 until 2:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.The graveside service and interment will be conducted following the funeral service at Cherokee Community Cemetery, Jonesborough. Active pallbearers will be, Travis Williens, Tony Lockhart, Jessie Delph, Mike McCoy, Steve Greene, and Jordan Delph.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cherokee Community Cemetery.Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.appfh.net.Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E.
