Virgie Phillips Rader

Virgie Phillips Rader, 89, Johnson City, died Sunday, March 22, 2020, at Greystone Healthcare, Blountville, following a lengthy illness. Virgie was a native of Milberton, TN, and the daughter of the late Charles H. and Viola Southerland Phillips. She formerly attended East Tennessee State College then transferred to Centre College, Danville, KY, where she received a B.S. Degree in Education. Following graduation, Virgie worked as a substitute teacher. She loved gardening. In addition to her parents, Virgie was preceded in death by her husband, John Donald Rader in 2011, her son, John Minnis Rader in 2017, and her daughter, Barbara Sue Rader in 2019. She is survived by her grandchildren, Brandon John Rader and Erica Lauren Rader, both of Greer, SC. There will be a private inurnment in the family plot at Willoughby Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery at a later date.Read Obituary
