Tammie Sue Nickles Wood, 60, Bristol, TN, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 21, 2024, at her residence.Tammie Sue was a native of Johnson City, and formerly resided in Kingsport before moving to Bristol in 2021. She was a daughter of the late Wiley Preston Nickles, Jr., and Maggie Jane Dykes Nickles Martin.Tammie Sue formerly attended Science Hill High School. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.In addition to her parents, Tammie Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Michael David Wood, in 2003, an infant daughter, three brothers, Perry and Gary Nickles, and an infant.She is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Mitchell and husband Tyler, Bristol; two grandchildren, Chelsy and Marshall Mitchell, Bristol; one brother, Joe Nickles and wife Cheryl, Johnson City; one sister, Kim Hinton, Johnson City; two aunts, Helen Dykes, Mason, TN, and Lois Dykes Shipman, Graham, NC; several cousins, nieces and nephews.The funeral service for Tammie Sue will be conducted Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 1:00 P.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Rev. Claude Babb, officiating.The family will receive friends Wednesday prior to the service from 11:30 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.The graveside committal service will follow at 2:00 P.M. in Monte Vista Memorial Park.
