Spencer T. Bennett, age 70, of Rutledge, Tennessee, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness. A native of Johnson City, Tennessee, he was a son of the late Spencer and Edith Lily Bennett. Mr. Bennett was born and raised in Johnson City, and moved to Norton, Virginia to start his own construction and mobile home moving business. After retirement, Mr. Bennett moved to Rutledge, TN.In addition to his parents, Mr. Bennett is preceded in death by four brothers, Jerry, Tim, Steve and Floyd Bennett; three nephews, Tracy Bennett, Mark Clay, and Jimmy Roberts.Survivors include his daughter, Carol Waldo and husband Tim, Knoxville, TN; three sisters, Judy Hyduck and Joann Clay, both of Johnson City, Nancy McKinney, Lenoir City, North Carolina; a brother, Raymond Bennett, Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive.The funeral service for Mr. Bennett will be conducted at 6:00 P.M. Thursday, July 5, 2018 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Dr. Tom Renfro, M.D. officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 until 6:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 6 from Barnett Cemetery, Johnson City. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:50 A.M. Friday.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are asked to be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital, 500 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.Read Obituary

I loved my Uncle Spencer with All of My heart.He was a very caring and kind man that would do anything to help anyone in anyway that he could. Our Prayers are with you Carol and Tim as you go thru the loss of your wonderful Daddy.He will be missed by us all.My Uncle Spencer was such a wonderful man that I truly loved and will miss his smiling face everyday. My Uncle is in Heaven now with the rest of our family that have crossed over into Heaven, and I know my Uncle Spencer is sitting with Jesus Christ Our Lord and Saviour
