Shannon Wayne Gosnell

Shannon Gosnell, 61, Johnson City, died Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, following a lengthy illness. Shannon was a Johnson City native, and a son of the late William Ernest and Ruby Irene Gaskey Gosnell. He was a 1979 graduate of Daniel Boone High School. Shannon was a Residential Contractor and the owner of SWG Renovations, where he specialized in residential remodeling and renovations. Shannon enjoyed motorcycles, especially riding Harley-Davidson’s, and playing his guitar. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Ann Dykes Gosnell, in 2008, and a brother, John Alan Gosnell. Shannon is survived by his step-daughter, Twila Byrd and husband Michael, Knoxville; two grandchildren, Marcus Austin and Kobe Byrd, both of Knoxville; one brother, Farrell Gosnell and wife Cathy, Johnson City; three sisters, Vivian Bryant, Telford, Joan Carol Gosnell, Jonesborough, and Tara Vance, Johnson City; sister-in-law, Debbie Gosnell, Telford; special friend, Sharon Lewis, Johnson City; several nieces and nephews. It was Shannon’s request to be cremated. Services will be held at a later date.
