Ruby L. Pierce

Ruby L. Pierce, age 83, of Gray, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the residence of her granddaughter, Missy Roberts, in Jonesborough following a brief illness. A native of Johnson City, she was a daughter of the late Charles Combs and Gertrude Benfield Rupe. Mrs. Pierce retired from Century Link following many years of service. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Pierce; brother, Charles Combs. Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Cretsinger and husband Garnet "Poncho", Johnson City; two granddaughters, Missy Roberts, and husband Chris, Jonesborough, Christy Hamm, Johnson City; grandson, Jamie Gillis and wife Erica, Limestone; ten great grandchildren, Joshua and Felicia, Cariann and James, Seth, Kristin, Curtis, Madi, Dylan, Dalton, Jaymerson, and Riplee; one great great grandchild, Vance. The funeral service for Mrs. Pierce will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 5, 2017 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. James Cretsinger officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 4 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home. The graveside service and interment will follow the funeral service at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
