“If you must choose, take a good name rather than great riches; for to be held in loving esteem is better than silver and gold. An old man’s grandchildren are his crowning glory. A child’s glory is his father.” - The Book of Proverbs Robert Wayne McKinney, 70, left this earthly life on January 9, 2020 to meet his Lord and Savior and to be greeted by his loved ones who went before him in Heaven. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse B. McKinney and Olean S. McKinney, his sister Brenda and his daughter Katie Anne. Wayne was a member of First United Methodist Church but attended First Presbyterian Church later in life. He was a United States Navy Veteran, who served two tours of duty in Vietnam. On one tour he commanded PBR’s with a south Vietnamese crew. Mr. McKinney’s career of many decades was spent as a Mechanical Contractor at S.B. White Company, where he retired as Vice President and CEO. Survivors include his beloved wife Anne, who he married in 1971, his son David and his wife Sarah, his grandchildren Henson, Ashby, Samuel and Elijah and sister Beverly. In order to protect his family’s privacy at this difficult time, Wayne requested no visitation, no funeral service and inurnment will be at a later date. To those who wish to honor Wayne’s memory, his family suggest gifts to The River, c/o Stacy Larsen, Executive Director 125 West Main St. Johnson City, TN 37604. Life is short. And we do not have much time to gladden the hearts of those who travel with us. So be quick to love and make haste to be kind. And may the blessing of God Almighty the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be with you and remain with you always. Amen -A Scottish Blessing

The River ministry for women would not exist without the help of Wayne McKinney and his company S.B. White. They were with us from day one and continued to look after our building for the past 16 years. It is a true blessing to receive donations in his memory. Thank you for this honor and please know that I am forever grateful. Please accept my sympathy and condolences. Blessings to his family in this challenging time. Stacy Larsen, Director of The River
