Richard "Kenneth" Vanover, Sr., age 63, of Elizabethton, TN, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Mountain City, he was a son of the late Matthew and Elleree Vanover. Mr. Vanover was a former employee of Gardner Paint Service, Johnson City. He was known as a jack of all trades, and was always willing to help anyone who asked. In addition to his parents, Mr. Vanover was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd, Earl and Arvil Vanover. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Teresa Kay Roark Vanover, Elizabethton; two daughters, Vanessa Vanover and Mike Stark, Hampton, Catherine Vanover and Mitch Cole, Elizabethton; one son, Richard Vanover, Jr. and Christy Vanover, Central Community; six grandchildren, Willie Stevens, Franny and Eric Knox, Gabby Vanover, Zoey Cole, and Austin Vanover; one great grandchild, Brooke Knox; four brothers, Dayton Vanover and wife Carol, Johnny Vanover, J.C Vanover, all of Mountain City, D.L Vanover, Kansas; two sisters, Karolen Davis and husband Howard, North Carolina, Debbie Vanover, Mountain City. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home. Order Flowers
