Rebecca Anne Gilmer

Rebecca, "Becky" Stephens Gilmer, a resident of Johnson City, passed away peacefully at home January 23, 2017. Becky was born in 1948 in Fort Riley, KS. She was a registered nurse who served in public health before committing full time to motherhood and management of her husband's dental office in Elizabethton. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Phillip Gilmer, and their eight children, Kitty Atkins, Nichol Cox, Josh Gilmer, Caleb Gilmer, Casper Gilmer, Noel Gilmer, Sierra Gilmer, and Norman Gilmer. In addition, there are twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 2:00 until 4:00 pm in the East Parlor of Appalachian Funeral Home. Family and friends will be gathering later that evening for reflection and celebration of a life well lived, 208 Parkway Blvd in Elizabethton at 6:00 pm. Private disposition will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery at a later date.
