Michael Dean Martin

Michael Dean Martin, age 69, of Johnson City, passed away unexpectedly Friday, April 20, 2018 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.  A native of Martinsville, VA, he was a son of the late Charles and Bessie Helton Martin.  Mr. Martin was a U.S Army Veteran and worked as a machinist in the shipyards in Norfolk, Virginia.   He was a member of Field Dale Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife, Rita Martin, Johnson City; three brothers, Donald Martin and wife Gracie, Lynchburg, VA, Gary Martin, Washington, D.C., and Phillip Martin and wife, Donna, Smith Mountain Lake, VA; two step-sons, David and Lee Crawford; great aunt, Trula Ensley, Field Dale, VA; grandchildren, Hailey Crawford, Johnson City, Alex Crawford and Will Crawford, both of Eden, NC.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.The visitation of family and friends will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Appalachian Funeral Home.The graveside service and internment will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, April 25 at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Rev.
