Mary L. Cox

Mary Louise Cox, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. She was a daughter of the late William "Bill" and Dicie Blevins Cox. Mary was a graduate of Happy Valley High School and Steed College. She retired from East-Tenn Mills. Ms. Cox was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, and her favorite day was Wednesdays, this was the day that the ladies of the church would visit nursing homes. In addition to her parents, Ms. Cox is preceded in death by two infant brothers, W.C and Jackie Cox; brother, Jimbo Cox, Johnson City; sister, Ruby and husband Percy Sweet, Adrian, MI. Survivors include three brothers, Herman and wife Evelyn Cox, Jerry and wife Lorna Cox, Luther and wife Nancy Cox; sister-in-law, Elizabeth "Betty" Cox, all of Johnson City. Also cherishing her memory are nephews and nieces, Ricky Sweet, Michael Sweet, Cindy Sweet and husband Greg Fay, all of Adrian, Michigan, Steve and wife Pam Cox, Limestone, Danny and wife Lenora Cox, Hampton, Tommy Alan and wife Karma Cox, Gray, Susan Cox and husband Jason Carter, Elizabethton, Wayne Cox, Joe Cox, Rachel Cox, and Gary and wife Linda Cox, all of Johnson City; a special cousin, Georgie Keys of Virginia, and a host of friends: Stella, Mildred, Cara, Judy, Lynn, Peggy, and Roger, all who have enriched Mary's life. The graveside service for Ms. Cox will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Roselawn Memory Gardens, Johnson City with Rev. Daniel Wood officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 AM Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cedar Grove Baptist Church, 363 Cedar Grove Rd., Johnson City, TN 37601, or a church of your choice. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Life Care Center of Elizabethton for their loving care and attention.
