Marvin Harold Byrd

Marvin Harold Byrd, 78, Johnson City, died peacefully Sunday, December 3, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.Marvin was a native of Buladean, NC and was a lifelong resident of Johnson City. He was a son of the late Walter J. and Stella Mae Davis Byrd.Marvin was a 1962 graduate of Happy Valley High School.He loved the Lord and was honored to serve his country in the U.S. Army.Marvin retired as a Supervisor from Eastman Chemical Company after many years of service.He was known for always being ready and willing to help in any situation presented.Marvin was an avid golfer and was proud to have won many golf tournaments. He loved the U.T. Vols and spending time at the beach. Marvin was loved by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed by all. He loved and cherished his family, friends, neighbors and golf buddies.In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Roy Byrd.He loved and adored his wife Lisa Bernard Byrd; daughter, Sherri Dye and husband Rick; son, Michael Byrd; step-daughter, Cierra Jackson; three grandchildren, Abigail Dye Westmoreland and husband Reece, Lucas Dye and Houston Meza; siblings, Wayne Byrd, Jean Carter, Larry Byrd and wife Pat, Teresa Bennett, Lisa Hood and husband Ronnie, Valorie Waycaster and husband Roger, Keith Byrd and wife Lee; several nieces, nephews and his beloved dog, Boomer.The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 10:00 A.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Pastor Mike Able, officiating.The graveside committal service will follow at 11:00 A.M. in the Historic Site of Mountain Home National Cemetery, with military honors being accorded by the Veterans Honor Guard DAV 39, Bluff City. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.The family will receive friends Wednesday prior to the service from 8:30-10:00 A.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.Read Obituary
