Marla D. Carriger, age 61, of Johnson City, passed away on June 9, 2016 from complications of cancer at her residence. A native of Johnson City, she was a daughter of the late Herman D. and Eleanor J. Carriger. Marla was a graduate of Science Hill High School, and the University of Tennessee. She was a Certified Public Accountant and partner in the accounting firm of Carriger & Gordon CPA's, PLLC, with her sister. She is survived by her husband, Daniel G. Buie; sister, Lucy Carriger Gordon, both of Johnson City; two nephews, Christopher D. Gordon, San Francisco, CA, and Matthew L. Gordon, Atlanta, GA; a niece, Kelsey L. Gordon, Johnson City; father and mother-in-law, Chauncey and Carol Buie, Bolingbrook, IL; four sisters-in-law, Cheryl Bartolich, Aurora, IL, Sandy Buie, Western Springs, IL, Shannon Buie, Jacksonville, FL, and Colleen Holden, Plainfield, IL; brother-in-law, Dennis Buie, Virginia Beach, VA. Several other nieces and nephews also surivive. Join the family in a celebration of Marla's life in a casual visitation on Saturday June 11, 2016 in the East Parlor of Appalachian Funeral Home from 1:00 until 3:00 P.M. As per Marla's wishes, a private graveside service will be conducted at Monte Vista Memorial Park, Johnson City In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Washington County Animal Shelter, N. Daniel, Jane & I have been out of town and were unable to come to Marla's memorial service. We were so sorry to hear that she had dies. She was always friendly to us and a lot of fun to be around. I know she loved Ripshin, and the all folks up there loved her. Our prayers are for you and the rest of Marla's family to be comforted by the kindness and love of your friends. Jim & Jane Moody
