Mark Allen Stout, 56, of Johnson City, passed away at his residence on Thursday, November 14, 2019. Mark is a lifelong resident of Johnson City and is a son of Sarah Jane Cox Payne. His maternal grandparents Leland and Sarah Cox precede him in death. Mark worked at ETSU for 34 years. He and his friend Mac sold sport memorabilia and other collectables at Mark’s Novelties in the Tri-Cities flea market. Mark was a member of the Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge where he loved to play poker with his friends. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and football. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Vonda Jones Stout of the home; daughter, Tina Mendez (Jeremiah); son, Phillip Stout; granddaughter, Olivia Mendez; brothers, Ken Stout and Kevin Payne (Becky); sister, Janet Payne; special sister-in-law, Tammy Yelton; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 18, 2019 at 7:00 P.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home. The graveside committal service will be held Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in Monte Vista Memorial Park. The family would like to thank Dr. Jaishankar at Regional Cancer Center and Hospice. In-lieu-of flowers the family requests donations be made for final expenses.

Mark and I go way back he was a very smart man. We spent many hard days at ETSU. IHe will be missed by many and never forgotten. All I can say is Mark was a good friend to me and just a good dude. God Bless all those he left behind he loved his family. Johnny
