Lola Mae Taylor EbarbJohn 11:25-26 - “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.’”Lola Mae Taylor Ebarb, 87, Johnson City, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the Johnson City Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. Lola was a native of Johnson City, and was one of four daughters of Hayle Franklin and Frances Irene Elliott Taylor. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who always saw the best in everyone she met. Lola resided in Johnson City most of her life with exceptions of residing in Elizabethton and Richmond, KY. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening and traveling. Lola was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church for over seventy-seven years, and loved her church family dearly, having served as a Sunday school and Bible school teacher as well as working many years in the church nursery. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years, Joe Ebarb, in 2014, an infant son, Steven Ebarb, two sisters, Hellen Adams and Betty Durham. Lola is survived by her son, Joe Ebarb and wife Mava Tipton Ebarb; one sister, Linda McNees and husband David; two grandchildren, Aaron Ebarb and wife Makia, Whitney Miller and husband Tyler; three step-grandchildren, Laine Kerr and husband Sean, Dustin Shiflet and wife Angela, Beau Shiflet and wife Shelly; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude and appreciation to the staffs of NHC and the Johnson City Medical Center. The funeral service will be conducted Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 1:00 P.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Rev. Tommy Maines and Rev. David Foster, officiating. Special music will be provided by T.R. Dunn, David Foster and John Durham. The graveside committal service will follow at 2:00 P.M. in Monte Vista Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday prior to the service from 11:30 -1:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home. In-lieu-of flowers, the family requests donations to Niswonger Children’s Hospital, c/o Ballad Health Foundation, 1019 W. Oakland Ave., Johnson City, TN 37604.
