Linda Ann Cheek, age 60, of Johnson City passed away Monday, December 7, 2015, at the Johnson City Medical Center after a lifelong struggle and a brief illness. A lifelong native of Johnson City, she was a daughter of the Vance W. Cheek, Sr., Johnson City, and the late JoAnn Clancey Cheek. Ms. Cheek was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, where she was active with her Cherubs of the church. She loved animals and worked with them at Robinson's Animal Hospital. Mrs. Cheek was a happy person and loved everybody and everybody loved her. In addition to her father, she is survived by her siblings, Carol Cheek Harmon and husband, Charlie; and Vance W. Cheek, Jr. and wife Jody, all of Johnson City; nieces and nephews, Justin Goulding and wife, Thea, Courtney Ding and husband, James, Catherine V. Cheek; great nephew, Ethan Goulding; brother-in-love, Chuck Mohler; two lifelong "Fristers" Janie Moss and Peggy Huddleston, all of Johnson City; her beloved family the Virginia Beach and North Carolina Cheeks. The funeral service for Ms. Cheek will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 10 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Mr. Dick Morris officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of her sister, Carol Harmon, 706 Douglas Drive, Johnson City, TN, at anytime. The graveside service will follow the funeral at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Charlie Harmon, James Ding, Justin Goulding, Chuck Mohler, Arch Jones, and Allen Cheek. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Michael Grosserode, Dr. Dawn Nuckolls, Dr. William A. Wiley, III, Dr. Stephen Kimbrough, and the Bridge Club of America. Because of her love for animals, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to the Johnson City/ Washington County Animal Shelter.
