Leonard H. "Hank" Eaton

Leonard H. “Hank” Eaton, Sr., age 94, of Gray, TN, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness.  A native of Orlando, FL, he was the son of the late Leonard A. and Vera Wilson Eaton.Mr. Eaton served as an aircraft mechanic on the US Navy seaplane tender, USS Albemarle, during World War II.  He retired from the Orange County (FL) Public School System and worked in Transportation.Mr. Eaton and his wife Edna Jean celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary prior to her passing.  They both attended Hawthorne Church of the Brethren.In addition to his parents, Mr. Eaton is preceded in death by his wife, Edna Jean, and  his two sisters, Norma and Reen.Survivors include his son, Leonard “Len” Eaton, Jr., and wife Cindy Jo, Duluth, Georgia; two granddaughters, Carley Eaton and Caitlin Eaton; one niece, Kathy Hanley; and, two nephews, Larry Beeman and Reid Churchill.A graveside service will be conducted for Mr. Eaton at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Monte Vista Memorial Park with Pastor Phillip Self officiating.    The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 until 10:45 AM in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital for Children, 950 West Farris Rd., Greenville, SC  29605.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of Mr. Eaton’s family and friends who have helped and cared for him.Read Obituary
