Leola Zadie Garland

Leola Zadie Garland, age 89, of Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Four Oaks Healthcare, Jonesborough, following an extended illness.  A native of Maryville, TN, she was a daughter of the late Ruth England Whitmore.  She was a member of Worldwide Church of God in Kingsport, and was a business owner in the community and owned Farm Direct Greenhouse on 81S for many years.  Mrs. Garland was a loving wife and mother.In addition to her mother, Mrs. Garland was preceded in death her husband Robert Garland; a son, Michael Garland; a daughter, Patricia Garland; and a brother, Edward Whitmore.Survivors include her son, Larry Garland, Piney Flats; three brothers, Xeno, Glen, and David Whitmore; granddaughter, Deanna Hensinger; grandson, Skyler Garland; a great grandchild, Keiley Garland.The funeral service for Mrs. Garland will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 6, 2019 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 until 1:00 P.M. in the East Parlor.The graveside service and interment will follow the funeral service at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Jonesborough, TN.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.Read Obituary
