Lena “Toots” Holtzsclaw, 103, Bristol, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2020, at The Courtyards Senior Living, Johnson City. Born in Greenville, PA, Lena lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late W.H. “Harry” Gasteiger and Lillie Belle Loveless Gasteiger. Lena was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Johnson City, until moving to Bristol in 2004. She and her late husband, Cline, were world-wide travelers, active in the Orchid Society of East TN, and the Washington County Beekeepers Association. Lena was an accomplished watercolor artist who enjoyed recreating scenes from her travel experiences. Lena’s kind, gentle, easy-going manner will be missed so very much by her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by her husband Cline Holtzsclaw, two sisters, Mary Ward Mount and Edith Jennings, a brother, Harry L. Gasteiger. She is survived by her son Bill Holtzsclaw and wife Judi, Gray; her daughter Cheryl Buck and husband Dan, Bristol; one grandson, David Holtzsclaw and wife Karen, Johnson City; two granddaughters, Susan Johnson and husband Richard, Johnson City; Amber White and husband Dean, Pacifica, CA; one great-granddaughter, Chelsea Seguin and husband Eric, Kingsport; one great-great-granddaughter, Liliana Ackermann; several special nieces and nephews. The family would like to acknowledge the kind and considerate care provided by The Courtyards Senior Living. The graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 2:00 P.M., in Monte Vista Memorial Park, with Rev. Dan Foster, officiating. Those planning to attend are to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 P.M. Wednesday. In-lieu-of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Washington County/ Johnson City Animal Shelter, 3411 N. Roan St., Johnson City, TN 37601.
