June (Faye) Dougherty Wood, 90, of Johnson City, was called home by our glorious savior on Dec. 1, 2019. June was born on March 11, 1929 in the family home in Scott County, Va. June was preceded in death by her parents, Cleve and Ava Dougherty; her husband and love of her life Charles Paul Wood; two sisters, Hazel Starnes and Edith Addington; four brothers, SC (Irene and Marie), Lester (Ruth), Brodus (Lotus), and Jimmy; sisters-in-law, June Prusha, Shirley McGreal, and Mary Dougherty; and brother-in-law, Joe Wood. June is survived by her daughters, Monica Wood, Lisa Wood Lansche and husband Allan; her granddaughter, Allison Steffey, her step-grandson, Allan Lansche, Jr.; her brother, Jack Dougherty; her sisters-in -law, Hazel Dougherty, Yvonne Pruett and husband Jerry, Isabelle Greear, Deborah Harrell and husband Melton; brothers-in-law James Wood and wife Carolyn, John Wood and wife Linda, Steve Wood and wife Vernell; and several nieces and nephews. June loved the Lord, her family, her friends, and her church. June touched the lives of so many with her caring, thoughtful, and loving ways. She was a faithful and loving wife, exceptional homemaker, devoted mother and grandmother, and loyal friend. She enjoyed God’s creations, sitting in the sun room watching the birds, chipmunks, rabbits, and squirrels. June also enjoyed gardening and took great pride in her lawn and enjoyed tending to the flowers she planted each year. She loved serving her church. She was a faithful Christian and had been a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church since 1965. June served as the Sunday School Secretary/Treasurer from 1965 until a few months before her death. At Wesley, June also worked as a kitchen volunteer for many years, and she was a member of Wesley’s United Methodist Women’s group. She worked as a volunteer in the gift shop at Johnson City Medical Center for 38 years. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, December 6, 2019 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, with Rev. Gerald Casson and Rev. Ken Lytton officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 1:30-3:00 P.M. The committal graveside service will be 12:00 P.M. Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Oak Hill Cemetery, 800 Truxton Dr. Kingsport, TN. Pallbearers will be Tommy Dougherty, James Wood, John Wood, Allan Lansche, and Mike Squibb. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack and Daniel Dougherty. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 225 Princeton Rd. Johnson City, TN 37601.
