Obituary-Joyce B. Patton Joyce Patton, 91, Johnson City, was called home to be with the Lord and those who have gone before on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at her residence. She was a Greene Co. native and a daughter of the late Ben and Ferbia Broyles Brown. Joyce was a homemaker and a secretary for many years for the W. Carter Co. Volunteer Fire Dept. She was a member of Hopwood Christian Church and the friends and neighbor's Sunday School class. Joyce was a member of FCE, the ARMS board, the Cattleman's Association and Service Seekers. She enjoyed crocheting and embroidery and many other crafts and won many ribbons at the fair for her handwork. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Marvin Patton, in 2007; a daughter, Elizabeth; a sister, Marie Wilhoit and a brother, Arnold Brown. Survivors include two sons, Ben Patton and wife Theresa, Elgin, IL and Robert Patton, Johnson City; two daughters, Karen Patton, Johnson City and Helen Potter and husband James, Johnson City; two grandchildren, Rita Mason and husband Mike, VA and Andrew Patton and wife Chenoa, Johnson City; two great-grandchildren, Draven and Raylan; several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their special thanks to Mountain States Hospice, Rosie, Chenoa and her church family for their support. The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, February 24, 2018, at 11AM at Hopwood Christian Church with Dr. Tim Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday, February 23, 2018, from 5PM-7PM in the East Parlor of Appalachian Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. In leiu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hopwood Christian Church building fund or the W. Carter Co. Volunteer Fire Dept.
