Joseph Anderson "Andy" Sifferd

Joseph “Andy” Sifferd, 67, Erwin, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Holston Valley Medical Center, following a brief illness.Andy was a native and lifelong Erwin resident. He was a son of the late Jack Lilly and Shirley Couch Britton Sifferd.Andy was a 1974 graduate of Unicoi County High School. He then served in the U.S. Navy from 1975-1979, and following his discharge, continued to serve his country in the Naval Reserves.Andy worked several years with Clinchfield Railroad/CSX Transportation, where he retired as a Signal Maintainer.He was a Baptist.In addition to his parents, Andy was preceded in death by his son, Brian Sifferd, and a brother, Chip Sifferd.He is survived by his daughter, Teah Sifferd, Atlanta, GA; his dearest friend and mother of his daughter, Teresa McNalley, Erwin; two sisters, Libby Erwin, Erwin, Terry Hansen and husband Ron, Maryville; one brother, Chuck Sifferd, Erwin; several nieces and nephews.The service celebrating Andy’s life will be held Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 11:00 A.M., in the sanctuary of Southside Freewill Baptist Church, with Pastor Kevin Laws, officiating.The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the church.Andy’s cremains will be inurned at Mountain Home National Cemetery at a later date.In-lieu-of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Andy to the Unicoi County Animal Shelter, 185 N.
