John Robert Taylor, 55, Jonesborough, died Sunday, June 9, 2019, at his residence, following a lengthy illness. John was a native of Oak Ridge, lived most of his life in Orlando, FL, and has been a resident of Jonesborough since 2017. He was a son of Joyce Ann Laws Taylor Harmon, Jonesborough, and the late Roy Lee Taylor. John worked in construction, where he was a carpenter and plumber. He enjoyed playing video games. In addition to his father, John was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Taylor Casanova. In addition to his mother, he is survived by four children, Shanna Taylor, Orlando, Jonathan Taylor, Orlando and currently serving in the U.S. Navy, Desiree Taylor, Orlando, Brian Taylor and wife Liz, Jacksonville, NC, Brian is currently in the U.S. Marine Corps and is stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC; one grandson, Deacon Taylor, Orlando; one sister, Debbie Gregg, Jonesborough; three brothers, David Taylor and wife Chris, Rockwood, Danny Bishop and wife Pam, Johnson City, Allen Ricker and wife Brandy, Asheville, NC; several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. The graveside funeral service for John will be held Thursday, June 13, 2019, at 3:30 P.M., in Oak Hill Cemetery, Johnson City, with Pastor Kenneth Grindstaff, officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends Thursday prior to the graveside service from 1:00-3:00 P.M. in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home.
