Jo Ann Hunt

Jo Ann Hunt, age 75, of Danville Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday January 30, 2018. She was born on September 1, 1942 in Washington County Tennessee. After marriage she moved from the area and eventually settled in Danville, VA. She graduated cum laude from Averett College in 1972 with a BS degree in Education. She became a lifelong educator in Pittsylvania County where she taught 4th grade at Stony Mill Elementary for 32 years. After retiring from teaching she helped co-found Hunt's Crossing where she was Director of Sales and Marketing in Kingsport, TN. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Danville VA. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Clara Ford. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, George Hunt. In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons, Andy and wife Nancy of Goode, VA and Dan and wife Carol of Carlsbad CA. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Nathan, Rachel, Dare, Tesla, sister Mary Brumit of Johnson City TN and brother John Ford Jr. Jonesborough TN along with 12 nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Appalachian Funeral Home in Johnson City on Friday February 2, 2018 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. A grave side service is scheduled for Saturday February 3, 2018 at 12:00pm at Oak Hill Cemetery in Kingsport.
