Jennifer "J-Lo" Avery, 57, of Elizabethton, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 23, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer.Jennifer was a native of Gate City, VA, and was a daughter of the late Kyle Jr. & Phoebe Ann Quillen. Jennifer had a kind-hearted caring nature and a genuine smile that could brighten the darkest of days. She loved any and all things glitz and glam. Among many hobbies, Jennifer loved creative decoration and gardening in her flower beds. Her most precious and enjoyed times were spent with her loving grandson, Isaiah Mirhabibi.Survivors include her daughter, Homaira Mirhabibi-Onuh (David); son, Nathan D. Avery; brother, Ricky Quillen; sister, Tamara Smith (Michael); grandson Isaiah Mirhabibi; 2 granddaughters; niece, Phoebe Smith (Luke); nephew, Jeremy Farley (Amber); along with many loving cousins, friends, and extended family. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Appalachian Funeral Home, with Reverend Christine Widby Scurry officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00-2:00 P.M. In-lieu-of flowers the family requests donations be made to help with final expenses.Read Obituary
