Jean Guinn Saylor

Jean Guinn Saylor, 91, Johnson City, died Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Princeton Transitional Care & Assisted Living, following a brief illness.Jean was a Washington County native and a resident of Johnson City for most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Grady and Gertie Rakes Guinn.Jean was a Pediatric Nurse and worked in the Children’s Hospital at the Johnson City Memorial Hospital and then the Johnson City Medical Center for thirty-five years before her retirement.She was a longtime member of Pinecrest Baptist Church and was faithful in always studying her Bible. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. “Dick” Saylor, her four sons, Gordon, Tim, Greg and Brent McKeehan, her daughter-in-law, Pam McKeehan, a great-grandson, Nicholas Hice, her brother, D.L. Guinn, and two sisters, Shirley Cloyd and Dolores Taylor.She is survived by three grandchildren, Becky Wright (Ronnie), Cherryville, NC, Brian McKeehan, Shelby, NC, and Holly Hice (Aaron), Hickory, NC; three great-grandchildren, Justin and Andrew Wright, Brittany Hamrick, all of Shelby, NC; a sister, Carol Burroughs, Johnson City; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The funeral service for Jean will be conducted Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 2:00 P.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Evangelist Charles “Toonie” Cash, officiating. The graveside committal service will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends Thursday prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.Read Obituary
