James Edward "Ted" Carter passed away at his residence in Bristol, TN on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. Ted was born April 7, 1964 in Santiago, Chile. He was the son of Kate Callaway Carter and the late Reverend William P. Carter. He is survived by his two sons, Matthew Carter and Andrew Carter, both of Johnson City; mother, Kate Carter, Johnson City, and brothers, Charles Carter and Steve Carter, both of Johnson City, Tom Carter, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and Bob Carter, Santiago, Chile. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial service for Mr. Carter will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 31, 2016 in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home. I worked with Ted at the cancer center in Bristol. He was always so positive and friendly with everyone...his patients truly loved him, as did his co-workers. I will miss him so much. He was very nice to me, and I considered it a privilege to have him as a work friend. My condolences go out to Ted's sons, Mother, brothers, and all who loved and cared about him. His presence and smile will always be missed.

I knew Ted in our neighbourhood in Providencia, when he was living in Chile, very nice and gentle person, good friend. I am really sad about loosing a person like him. I hope his family can go through this hard moment. We will all miss you Ted.

I worked with Ted for years at the Cancer Center. From the moment we met, we were already friends. His amazing smile, personality and contagious laugh touched not only the patients but all of his co-workers. Ted is someone that will never be forgotten. I know I will never forget him & our friendship. I pray for peace for his family during this time. Love you Ted, you will forever be missed!
Ted was the highlight of my dad's visit to the cancer center. My dad trusted him and Ted always brought much comfort to what was otherwise a scary visit. His smile and kind words were what his patients needed so badly. My dad was blessed to have him care for him over the past few years. He will be missed immensely.
Ted and I worked together at Advanced Bio-services together for several years, we traveled together several times a week while we were working to establish a center in Kingsport. Ted had a way of making anything fun, work included. I learned a lot about Ted during this time, his time in Chile and his love and pride in his parents and their dedication to service. He was proud of his family. I will never forget him. God bless you all.

We were shocked to hear today about the passing of Ted. We met him at the cancer center in Bristol. He was so nice and pleasant and made your visit to the cancer center easier. He is missed and we pray for peace and strength for his family for the difficult days ahead.
I just learned of Ted's passing. I was searching for him online and found this condolences page. Ted was always such a powerful force. I met him several years ago while living in Johnson City. He was loved by everyone who knew him and I was thankful to know him. I know he is missed by all who were close to him. My thoughts are with his family and friends even now.
