Dr. James W. Robinson, 66, Johnson City, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. James was a native of Monroeville, AL, and a resident of Johnson City since 1980. He was a son of Nancie Brantley Robinson, Birmingham, AL, and the late Lewis Robinson. James received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University in 1976, during which time he sold Bible's door to door to put himself thru college, and just so happened was the top salesman in the company each year. James opened his first Robinson Animal Hospital in 1992, which has since expanded to four locations. He was a longtime, active member of Central Baptist Church, where he was a member of the choir and served on the Missions Team. James loved more than anything to help others, any way possible. He was an Eagle Scout. James was a collector and enthusiast of vintage classic European sports cars. He loved to dance and travel with his wife, especially beach trips, and enjoyed working outdoors. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Kim Robinson; four children, Brantley Robinson (Emily), Ooltewah, Katie B. Emerson (Benjamin), Pullman, WA, Christopher Robinson, Calhoun, GA, Megan Wynne, Cookeville, ; four brothers, Peter Robinson (Lin Hsia), Long Beach, MS, Brian Voge (Kaye), Ocala, FL, Lewis Robinson (Beckie), Dallas, TX, Carl Robinson (Terry), Charlotte, NC; one sister, Diane Rosser (Darryl), Birmingham; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; his dear friends, Stuart & Dee Dee Hicks; his numerous beloved employees. The Celebration of James's Life will be held Thursday, March 8, 2018, at 3:00 P.M., at Central Baptist Church, 300 N. Roan St., Johnson City, with Dr. Ronald F. Murray, officiating. Special music will be provided by members of the church choir. A private graveside service for the family will be held at an earlier time in Monte Vista Memorial Park.
