Dr. James Webster Robinson

Dr. James W. Robinson, 66, Johnson City, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. James was a native of Monroeville, AL, and a resident of Johnson City since 1980. He was a son of Nancie Brantley Robinson, Birmingham, AL, and the late Lewis Robinson. James received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University in 1976, during which time he sold Bible's door to door to put himself thru college, and just so happened was the top salesman in the company each year. James opened his first Robinson Animal Hospital in 1992, which has since expanded to four locations. He was a longtime, active member of Central Baptist Church, where he was a member of the choir and served on the Missions Team. James loved more than anything to help others, any way possible. He was an Eagle Scout. James was a collector and enthusiast of vintage classic European sports cars. He loved to dance and travel with his wife, especially beach trips, and enjoyed working outdoors. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Kim Robinson; four children, Brantley Robinson (Emily), Ooltewah, Katie B. Emerson (Benjamin), Pullman, WA, Christopher Robinson, Calhoun, GA, Megan Wynne, Cookeville, ; four brothers, Peter Robinson (Lin Hsia), Long Beach, MS, Brian Voge (Kaye), Ocala, FL, Lewis Robinson (Beckie), Dallas, TX, Carl Robinson (Terry), Charlotte, NC; one sister, Diane Rosser (Darryl), Birmingham; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; his dear friends, Stuart & Dee Dee Hicks; his numerous beloved employees. The Celebration of James's Life will be held Thursday, March 8, 2018, at 3:00 P.M., at Central Baptist Church, 300 N. Roan St., Johnson City, with Dr. Ronald F. Murray, officiating. Special music will be provided by members of the church choir. A private graveside service for the family will be held at an earlier time in Monte Vista Memorial Park. There are no words to describe the sadness of losing my dear friend, James. I have known James since he came to Johnson City. We worked together on countless humane society efforts as well as a myriad of other animal activities. James was always there with his unforgettable smile. His kindness and willingness to help was endless. I am at a loss for words to adequately describe the impact James had on the lives of so many animals. His presence will be greatly missed. I met Dr. Robinson through my work at the Unicoi Animal Shelter. I always enjoyed his conversations about sports cars and working around his house. He was truly one on the nicest and most genuine people I have ever met and I will miss him.

Dr. Robinson was a great man and a wonderful vet. He was always in a hurry but always had time to tell people what they needed to hear and when they needed to hear it. He helped my Mother and Me through many triumphs and sadness but was always there answering whatever question I had. We are all diminished by his passing and all the animals He helped that have passed on will great Him in critter heaven where they have saved him a honorary spot.

We were so sad to hear of James' passing. We had known him for over 30 years and although lost touch always thought of him fondly. He had a quick wit about him , He was always the kidder. Once when my husband and I became pregnant he jokingly told John, "Well it's about time! I thought I was going to have to come over and show you how it was done!" lol He always spoke to you if you were his dearest friend. We will always remember kindness and especially his smile. .he will be missed. Our prayers are with you. Johnny and sandy Thomas

My prayers go out to the family for strength, comfort and peace that passeth all understanding. I went to school with James and graduated with him in 1969. He always was smiling and was so nice to me. We were poor but James treated me the same as everyone else. After graduation I became good friends with his father Lewis. We were both members of Alabama Masonic Lodge #3 in Monroeville. James is in Heaven now and we don't want to miss seeing him again ??????a??i??a??i??

I am so very sorry for your loss. I never saw Dr.Robinson in person, but have had many pets treated at his clinics. He seemed to be a very special man. May your memories help with the sad times :)

We felt very fortunate to have had Dr. Robinson in our lives for many years ... a terrific vet to our Doberman, Tori, and a friend to us as well. Funny, caring, compassionate ... one of a kind.

I am so sorry to hear this. Dr. Robinson was a great vet, but most importantly a great human being. I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Robinson family and his staff.
