James Olan Priester Jr., 1514 Baxter St., Johnson City, died peacefully in his sleep at home on June 27th, his 71st birthday. He was a native of Savannah, GA, and was a son of the late James Olan Priester Sr. and the late Norma Tyson Conville. Jim worked for many years in the liquid gases and welding supplies business. He later worked as a cook at NHC Heathcare for 10 years before his retirement. Jim was a member of Clark Street Baptist Church where he was also a Deacon. He loved his grandchildren dearly and loved hummingbirds. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Randy Haymans; a sister, Oleen Baughcum; his mother and father-in-law, Billie and Miles Cardwell. Survivors include his wife of nearly 45 years, Anne Priester; three daughters, Michelle Priester, Laurie Cearnal and husband Chris, and Sarah Minton and husband Paul, all of Johnson City; one son, Joseph Priester and wife Katie, Colonial Heights; one sister, Julia Bolen and husband Wayne, Rincon, GA; two special cousins, Mary Barnett and Ernestine Phillips, Midway, GA; special aunt, Frances Patton, Hartwell, GA; six grandchildren, Mya, Derrick, Jordan, Lacy, Ethan and Landon. Jim's family wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. Brian Way, Dr. Martin Tran, and the staff of the 5500 wing of the Johnson City Medical Center and Smokie Mountain Dialysis for their special care. The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at 7PM, in the sanctuary of Clark Street Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Weatherly officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 5PM-7PM Tuesday.
