James "Jim" C. Godfrey, age 83, of Johnson City, passed away, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Erwin Healthcare in Erwin, TN. A native of Bristol, TN, he was a son of the late Olen and Minnie Davis Godfrey. Mr. Godfrey was an iron worker and loved his work. In addition to his parents, Mr. Godfrey was preceded in death by a son James Kevin Godfrey; a brother, William Jack Godfrey. Survivors include three daughters, Rebecca Miller and husband Mitchell, Elizabethton, Twyla Willis and husband Danny, Johnson City, Nikki Rose and husband Ken, West Virginia; two sons, Douglas Godfrey, Johnson City, Bryan Godfrey and wife Cheryl, Elizabethton; one sister, JoAnn Bowman, Jonesborough. Several grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Great great grandchildren, nieces and, nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Godfrey will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Friday, September 15, 2017 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Deaton officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, at Urbana Cemetery, Limestone, TN. Active pallbearers will be David Bowman, Bryan Bowman, Ken Rose, Joey Taylor, Danny Willis, and Matthew Taylor. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 A.M. Saturday.
