James "Jim" Morris Franklin

James “Jim” Morris Franklin, 78, Johnson City, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at his home surrounded by family.Jim was born on December 20, 1944 in Mitchell County, NC to the late Clarence Franklin and Violet Black Lewis.Jim was known as a very hardworking man. He would drop everything to make sure that his family and friends were always taken care of. In his free time he loved fishing, tinkering on his cars and spending time with his family. Jim was genuinely the heart of the family.In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by three sons, Stacy, Ryan, Shane; brothers, JD, Darrell; sister, Christine.He leaves behind his lovingly, dedicated wife, Vernice Mills Franklin; daughters, Nikki Meuser (Jay), Larinda Castillo (Joe), Amber Mathes (Jacob); son, Troy O’Laughlin (Kathy); grandchildren, Larielle, Crystal, Joey, Kevin, Cassie, Cody, Brianna; sisters, Carolyn Privette (Wayne), Dorris Vault; brothers, Wayne Franklin (Brenda), Steral Franklin (Brenda), Freddy Lewis, Teddy Lewis, Mick Lewis; several nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and other extended family members.The graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 12:00 P.M. in Oak Hill Cemetery, 205 Whitney St. Johnson City, TN 37604, with Pastor Richard Bawgus, officiating. Pallbearers will be Cody, Kevin, Joey, Troy, Wayne and Ira. Those who wish to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 11:50 A.M.In-lieu-of flowers memorials can be given to the family.Read Obituary
