Howard Ruben Peters, age 90, of Johnson City, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017 at his home. He was a native of Johnson City, and the last survivor of his parents, Charles P. and Edna Holden Peters. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Inez, Mary, Celia, Ruby, Dovie, Pearl, Edna, and Charles, Jr. He attended Science Hill High School, and proudly served in the U.S. Army in World War II and the Korean War. He worked as an electronic technician for the Department of the Navy in Washington D.C., and retired from General Electric in Lynchburg, VA. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the James H. Quillen V.A Medical Center and the staff of Amedysis Hospice. The graveside service will be conducted at 10:45 A.M. Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Mountain Home National Cemetery with the V.A Chaplain officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:40 A.M.
