Herbert H. "Bud" Roberts, 86, Erwin, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a Sullivan Co. native and a son of the lateTeddy Lee and Eloise Herran Roberts. Mr. Roberts was an Aviation Mechanic in the United States Marine Corps, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Ribbon. He was employed at ITT North Electric and had worked as a long-haul truck driver for over 20 years. Bud was a simple man that had a smile for anyone he met. He never turned his back on his family and friends. He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by four sisters. Survivors include his wife of nearly 64 years, Peggy Jean White Roberts, Erwin; a son, Mike Roberts and wife Patricia, Erwin; Two brothers, Roy Roberts, Denton, NC and Noah Roberts and wife Barbara, Dalton, GA; two sisters, Louise Peters and husband Virgil, Kingsport and Opal Ingle, Jonesborough; two sisters-in-law, Susie Arnold and husband Wayne and Teresa Butler, both of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Dr. Dean McLaughlin, nurse Vickie, Lakebridge Healthcare and Amedysis Hospice for their care of Bud. The graveside committal service will be conducted Friday, June 3, 2016, at 1:45PM in Mountain Home National Cemetery with Pastor Craig Ponder and Pastor Bobby Joe Barker officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by Boone Dam VFW post#4933 . Those wishing to attend are requested to meet at the cemetery at 1:30PM. Pallbearers will be family and friends. It was such a pleasure and an honor to care for Mr. Roberts at Lakebridge. He was the sweetest, most kind man I have ever met. He always had a smile and was so appreciative of every little thing. God blessed you all by having him in your life. I will keep you all in my prayers.
