*Front page & heading- Gladys K. "Gabi" Harris Wright Jenkins *Photo Gladys "Gabi" Jenkins, 92, Johnson City, passed away Friday, March 23, 2018, at The Waters. Gabi was a Unicoi County native and a daughter of the late Robert Fay and Madge White Harris. She was a pharmacy technician locally, and prior to that was a painter at Blue Ridge Pottery in Erwin, where she was commissioned to paint a tea set for Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart. Gabi was a talented writer, artist, poet and craftsperson. She kept her sharp mind and quick wit to the very end. Gabi was a member of First Christian Church of Johnson City. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Albert Dudley Wright, her second husband, Paul W. Jenkins, a sister, Eva Marie Harris, her brother, Buddy Harris. Gabi is survived by three daughters, Sandra Wright Bennett and husband Jimmy, Randi Wright Perry and husband Ed, Barbara Jenkins Monroe and husband Gary, all of Johnson City; one son, Dan Jenkins, Johnson City; one sister, Lucille Hagy, Johnson City; four grandchildren, Julie Morris and husband Aaron, Johnson City, Craig Bennett and wife Melissa, Knoxville, Casey Medders, Warner Robbins, GA, Whitney McGuffin and husband Frank, Morristown; seven great-grandchildren, her best friend Alex Morris and wife Kaitlyn, Audrey Morris, Brenden Medders, Kelsey Medders, Addison McGuffin, Harper McGuffin, Baylor Bennett; two great-great-grandchildren, Henry Kalvin Morris and Max Alexander Morris; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to Mountain States Hospice, nurses Sarah and Ruby, special care-giver Denise "Sissy" Baggett, Dr. Ronald Blackmore and staff, and dear friend Leila "Tommie" Harris. The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at 7:00 P.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home. The graveside committal service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Those planning to attend are to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 A.M. Active pallbearers will be Alex Morris, Aaron Morris, Craig Bennett, Frank McGuffin, Dan Jenkins and Andrew Logan. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Bennett, Casey Medders, Brenden Medders, Ed Perry and John Wright.
