Gina Leach

“As I Went Down to the Valley to Pray Studying About the Good Old Way and Who Shall Wear the Robe & Crown Oh Lord Show Me the Way Come on Brother Lets Go Down” Gina Sanders Leach, 66, Johnson City, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at the Johnson City Medical Center, with her beloved husband Ed by her side. Gina was born in Abilene, TX, grew up in Boone, NC, and had been a resident of Johnson City since 1976. She was a daughter of the late Dr. Oliver Paul Sanders and Virginia “Ginny” Frederick Sanders. Gina was a 1976 graduate of Appalachian State University, where she received a B.S. Degree in Psychology. She was a homemaker and member of Central Baptist Church. Gina was an avid and talented gardener, and so enjoyed the beautiful flowers and fresh vegetables that she tended to and cared for. She was a lifelong generous philanthropist. Her main passions included The Haven of Mercy and Washington County/Johnson City Animal Shelter, among many others. Gina meant so much to everyone she knew. She loved her family and friends fiercely and deeply, and was loyal, generous and caring up until the day she went home to the Lord. In addition to her parents, Gina was preceded in death by her beloved son, Eric Leach, brother, Steve Sanders, brother-in-law, Bob Leach, and her father and mother-in-law, Roy and Ruth Leach. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Ed Leach; her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Mary Ellen Leach; step-mother, Marge Sanders; sisters-in-law, Judy Kelly and Ruth Ann Leach. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Washington County-Johnson City E.M.S. and Johnson City Fire Department for their response, to Dr. Martin, Angie, the E.R. staff, the Critical Care and I.C.U. nurses. Due to the current health crisis, there will be a service to celebrate Gina’s life that will be announced at a later date. The family requests that in-lieu-of flowers, donations may be made in Gina’s honor to the Washington County/Johnson City Animal Shelter, 3411 N.
