Freddie Eugene Long, age 79, of Manvel, TX passed away in Pearland, TX Wednesday, September 18, 2019. Fred was born on March 23, 1940 in Johnson City, TN and is preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Dorothy Long as well as his siblings Floyd Long, Bill Long, and Shirley Arrowood. Fred was a retired Army officer and Medevac pilot who was recognized for valor in Vietnam. He was an active member of the Dustoff Association as well as the Order of the Quiet Birdmen. Additionally, Fred was an avid golfer and proud member of the Bandits Golf Club. Fred is survived by his daughter, C. Denise Long of Manvel, TX, and two sons, Freddie E. Long II of Jonesborough, TN, and Joseph E. F. Long of Tampa, FL. Fred also leaves behind five siblings: Charlotte Hicks, Annie Long, and Charles, Leroy and Gary Long. Fred leaves behind two grandchildren, Nicole R. Long and Aidan J. Long, as well as two great-grandchildren, Erin and Elam. Finally, Fred leaves behind his beloved Hirsch-Bruno family. The graveside funeral service will be held Friday, September 27, 2019, at 1:45 P.M., in Mountain Home National Cemetery, with full military honors being accorded by members of the Tennessee Army National Guard Funeral Honors Team. Those planning to attend are to meet at the funeral home by 1:15 P.M. Friday to proceed to the cemetery. I loved the video of Fred's Life especially the parts with his family. He was and awesome man and hero. It was apparent he loved and cherished his whole family. You can just tell by the SMILE on his face. May the Great Spirit Keep and Bless Him on his new journey in his next life and be with all his family! John and Susie
The greatest memories I have was how good Fred Treated my mom when she was sick.. He always welcomed us in his home to swim ... When my boys was small.. He was a happy person always smiling... RIP Fred Long give my mommy big hugs..
