Frances "Penny" May Taylor

Frances “Penny” Taylor, 64, Johnson City, died Thursday, August 22, 2019, at her residence, following a lengthy illness.Penny was a native of Johnson City and a longtime resident of Myrtle Beach, SC, before returning to Johnson City.She was a daughter of the late David Scarboro and Minnie Grace.Penny was a homemaker and loved to read, latchhook, and ride through the mountains.She was of the Baptist faith.In addition to her parents, Penny was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Andrew Scarboro, a brother, Ulysses Grant Grace, and a granddaughter, Sierra Bell Zacharias.She is survived by two daughters, Tina Marie Range and husband James, Jonesborough, and April Denise Briggs, Unicoi; one son, Morris Jerry Edward Taylor, Kingsport; one sister, Phyllis Lee Holtsclaw, Johnson City; one brother, Billy Joe Scarboro, Jacksonville, FL; six grandchildren, Dakota Jenkins, Danielle Jenkins, Shianne Lee Zacharias, Colbey Brian Briggs, Morris Alexander Taylor, and Lillian Shane Taylor; one great-grandchild, Xavier Owen Goodwin; several nieces and nephews.The funeral service will be conducted Monday, August 26, 2019, at 2:00 P.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Chaplain Steven Spell, officiating.Interment will follow in Scalf Family Cemetery.The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00-2:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.Please click here to view the video tributeRead Obituary
