Ernest E. Foster

Ernest E. Foster, 88, Johnson City, died Monday, November 4, 2019, at the Johnson City Medical Center, following a brief illness. Ernest was a native of the Coffee Ridge community of Erwin and had been a resident of Johnson City for most of his life. He was a son of the late Robert R. and Zula Farnor Foster. Ernest was a Korean War U.S. Navy veteran. He worked many years as a Residential Building Contractor. Ernest was a member and Deacon of Antioch Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. In addition to his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by six brothers, Clarence, Raymond, Leonard, Calvin and Allen Foster, one sister, Audrey Renfro. He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Margaret Rowland Foster; daughter, Louann Foster Sharp, Johnson City; two grandchildren, Danny Webb Sharp, II and Anna Marie Sharp, both of Johnson City; two brothers, Denlis Foster and wife Lelian, Mike Foster, all of Erwin; one sister, Betty Pate, Erwin; two sisters-in-law, Frances Foster and Lana Foster, both of Erwin; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Ernest will be conducted Thursday, November 7, 2019, at 6:00 P.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Rev. Pete Tackett, officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4:30-6:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home. The graveside committal service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday in Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by members of the Carter County Honor Guard. Those planning to attend are to meet at the funeral home by 9:30 A.M. to proceed to the cemetery.Read Obituary
