Emma Sue Glass, 100, Boones Creek, died Friday, January 17, 2020, at her home where she was born and lived her entire life. She was the daughter of the late Walter W. and Minnie Fine Glass. Emma Sue had many different interests through the years. She loved spending time with family, baking, sewing, shopping and growing flowers, particularly irises and roses. However, her true joy the past 10 years was maintaining a well-groomed yard using a push mower often 3 times a week. Emma Sue is a charter member of Boones Creek Bible Church, having taught children’s church and Sunday school for many years. During her years of illness, Emma Sue was lovingly ministered to by Sue, Tammy, Margie and Michelle. The family will be forever grateful to these special ladies for their dedication. In addition, her loving and caring neighbors, whom always showed Emma Sue true friendship and concern. In addition to her parents, Emma Sue is preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Elmer Glass and Herman Glass, a nephew, Robert Lynn Glass. Those left to cherish Emma Sue’s memory are her nieces and nephews, Tony Glass (Linda), Sharon Harmon (Craig), Charles Glass (Jackie), Kenneth Glass (Fran), Gary Glass (Susan), Michael Glass (Nancy), Carolyn Hodges, Ruth Ann Willis (John), Betty Widener (Sam), all from the Boones Creek community; great nieces and nephews, Allan Glass (Meagan), Rachel Glass, Todd Glass (Laura), Jennifer Hodges Collins, Carrie Hodges Kruska (Jeff), Jonathan Willis (Amy), Leah Harmon Scott (Jesse), Christine Harmon, Chris Widener (Cindy), Kimberly Widener Edwards (Bill), Kenny Glass, Laura Glass, Andrew Glass, Adam Glass; great-great nieces and nephews, Kelsey, Brazen, Avram, Tegan, Hannah G., Emily, Abigail, Ella, Evan, Hannah C., Will, Ben, Emma, Molly, and Ava. The funeral service celebrating the life of Emma Sue will be conducted Monday, January 20, 2020, at 2:00 P.M., from Boones Creek Baptist Church, with Evangelist Charles “Toonie” Cash, officiating. Special music will be provided by Judy Ellis, Daniel and Rebecca Wakefield. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 1:00-2:00 P.M. The graveside committal service will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests those who prefer to make memorial contributions may do so to either Boones Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 304 Pickens Bridge Rd. Johnson City, TN 37615, or The Gideons International where donation envelopes will be provided at the church Monday or anytime at Appalachian Funeral Home.
