Emma "Jean" Bennett, 72, Johnson City, passed away at her residence Saturday, January 27, 2018. She was a Washington County native and a daughter of the late Samuel Monroe Baker and Eva Jane Carter Baker. Jean was a loving mother and wife of 50 years. She attended Milligan Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed bird watching and gardening. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. Survivors include her husband Ray Lee Bennett; four children, Debbie McCrary and husband Keith, Dennis Ray Bennett and wife Tina, Della Price and Dorothy Bennett, all of Johnson City; two sisters, Mary Ann Street and husband Jack, Buladean NC and Edith Bowman, Johnson City; five grandchildren, Michael Powell, Amanda Powell, Matthew Severns, Noah Bennett and Josh Price; two great grandchildren, Marlee and Lacy Powell; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Jean Bennett will be conducted Tuesday January 30, 2018, at 1PM in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Street and Rev. Kenneth Grindstaff. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11AM to 1PM prior to the service. The graveside committal service will follow in Washington County Memory Gardens. Uncle Ray and Family, I hated to hear of Aunt Jean's passing, she was always the sweetest when we got together. Praying for comfort for all of you during this time. Love you all
