Devoe Leroy Brown

Devoe “Leroy” Brown, 88, Johnson City, died Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, following a brief illness. Leroy was born in Avery County, NC to the late Bernie Brown and Dansford Lunsford Copas. He worked as a mechanic at Leon-Ferenbach for 57 years. Leroy enjoyed farming, Elvis Presley, NASCAR racing, especially Richard Petty. Along with his parents, several brothers and sisters precede him in death. His survivors include his loving wife Shirley Ann Trapp Brown of 58 years; 2 sons, Dennis Brown (Debbie), Bernie Brown (Kathy) all of Johnson City; a daughter, Sharon Shell (Duane) of Johnson City; 2 grandsons, Mike Brown (Missy) of Bristol, Dennis Brown of Johnson City; a very special granddaughter, Christy Walter of Johnson City; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers. The funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 2, 2019, in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Rev. Gene Deaton and Rev. Tony Trott officiating. The committal graveside service will follow in Washington County Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30-2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
