On February 26, 2024 David Ray Ball was called home. He battled health issues for quite some time, fought hard to stay but is now at peace.David was born to Pearl and Georgia (Cress) Ball on September 18, 1950. He had five sisters Laura Williams, Ruby Bolden, Dorothy Couch, Judy Smith and Reba Lane, who are all deceased. Three brothers Bill Ball, Jim Ball, who are deceased and Steve Ball who currently lives in Patterson, NC. Along with these siblings there are several special nieces and nephews.He spent his childhood years in Appalachia, Virginia and enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. David served two and half tours of duty during this war.David married Wilma (Jones) Ball in 1970 and they had one son, James Everett Ball.James is married to Kelly (Phillips) and they currently reside in Johnson City, TN.David's grandchildren and great grandchildren: Grandson: Logan Ray Ball of Johnson City, TN Grandson: James Larkin Ball (Hope) and great granddaughter Parker Thea of Johnson City, TN Granddaughter: Jameson Abby Ruth-Lynn Ball of Johnson City, TN Grandson: Jordan Micah-Cody Phillips (Kelsey) and great grandchildren Emmett Alexander Blake, Elias Troy Valor and Ella Jade Roselyn of Talbott, TN Grandson: Staff Sergeant Timothy Andrew Ryan Baker (Hannah) and great grandchildren Brynleigh Harper, Peyton Claire and Arya Kate of Fort Jackson, SC Grandson: Brandon Nathanel Cole Baker (Avery) and great grandchildren Ashton Robert Cope and Noah Axel Wayne of Greeneville, TN Granddaughter: Kelsey Lynn Childress (Raile) and great grandchildren Molly Lynden, Josie Blair and Jackson Tate of Hartford, Tn Granddaughter: Reagan Allison Lynn Mullins (Evan Harman) of Johnson City, TNA special " thank you" to Durham-Hensley Health and Rehab in Chuckey, TN for their wonderful staff and the great care they provided to David over the last few years.James and Kelly would like to request in lieu of flowers a donation be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital in memory of David Ball.The graveside service and inurnment for David will be held Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. in Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Site). If you would like to attend meet at Appalachian Funeral home by 2:30 P.M. and follow in procession to the cemetery lead by Rolling Thunder.This obituary was lovingly written by the family.
