Cosby Coolidge Johnson Matthew Chapter 11, Verse 28: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Born August 22, 1924 to Reverend Willis H. Johnson and wife Hazel D. in Greendale, Virginia passed January 22 at the age of 93. Coolidge started his career working for Clinchfield Railroad in Erwin until 1963 when he began his career as a builder and formed his own construction company. He was instrumental in forming the Home Builders Associations in Johnson City, Bristol and Kingsport. He was the first president of the Johnson City Association, named Tennessee Builder of the Year in 1974 and recently installed in the Tennessee Home Builders Hall of Fame. He served two terms on the State of Tennessee Board of Licensing Contractors. As a member of First United Methodist Church for over 60 years, he served on many committees, participated in the Emmaus community and also helped over the years with the Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts of the Sequoyah Council. He was a former member of the Johnson City Country Club, Elks, Chamber of Commerce, Lake Wales Country Club, Georgia Hunting and Fishing Club. Coolidge was survived by his wife of 72 years, Edna Squibb Johnson, his son Jon Randall (Randy) Johnson and wife Pam, granddaughters Dr. Erin Johnson and fiancee John Deakins III, Anna Cassell and her husband Seth, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, three sisters: Anna, Geri Pietrangelo, Gladys Carder and five brothers: Luke, Morris, Gaines, Dwight and Willis. Honorary pallbearers: Dr. Luke Johnson, Rodney Johnson, Peder Johnson, Gregg Pietrangelo, Ron Ramsey, Ben Carder, O. J. Gardner, Steve Franklin, Joe Ferrell, Frank Whitson, Wayne Bailey, Hershel Scalf, Bob Blevins, Buck Mcclellan, Alf Taylor, Harold Bailey and Steve Grills. The family would like to thank his care givers: Home Helpers of Johnson City, Jean Bell, Teri Pierce, and Ashley Weaver. We would also like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and support staff on the 2nd floor CICU wing of Mountain States Hospital. The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, January, 27, 2018, at 2pm in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jane Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday in the church sanctuary from 12-2pm. The graveside committal service will follow in Monte Vista Cemetery.
