Clyde E. Alexander, 91, Johnson City, died Thursday, July 25, 2019, at his residence, following a lengthy illness.Clyde was a Johnson City native and the son of the late Claude E. and Beatrice Rader Alexander.He formerly worked as an Electrician, and owned and operated Alexander’s Supermarket for many years.Clyde was a World War II Army veteran, and an avid fisherman.At the time of his death, he was the oldest living member of Southside Baptist Church.In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel I. Alexander, in 2016, and a son, Samuel Alexander.He is survived by two sons, Clyde Michael Alexander and wife Janet, James Benic Alexander and wife Susan, all of Greenwood, SC; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren.The funeral service will be conducted Monday, July 29, 2019, at 2:00 P.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Pastor William Lunsford, officiating.Interment will follow in Monte Vista Memorial Park.The family will receive friends Monday prior to the service from 12:30 -2:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
