Charles W. Marshall, age 82, of Johnson City, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018 in Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina.  He was a native of Johnson City, and was the son of the late William R. Marshall and Marlene Norman Marshall.Charles graduated from Mecklenburg County High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, and was a member of the Johnson City First Church of the Nazarene and attended Knob Creek Church of the Brethren.Mr. Marshall worked for the Johnson City Police Department, and after his retirement, he worked for Norman Marshall Construction Company driving a truck.  He loved camping, traveling, and working outdoors.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Norman R. Marshall.Charles leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Edna Jamerson Marshall, daughters, Vicky Lynn Gregg and husband Brian, Ft. Collins, Colorado, Shawn Marshall, Charlotte, North Carolina; one grandson, Tommy Gregg; two great-grandchildren, ; a niece, Vera Thomas and husband Jerry, Wesley W. Marshall, and wife Andrea; and several cousins and friends.The funeral service for Mr. Marshall will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, April 12, 2018 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Stout and Rev. Lowell Bowens officiating.The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.The graveside service and entombment service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M Friday, April 13 at Monte Vista Memorial Park.  Active pallbearers will be Jerry Thomas, Wesley Marshall, Russell Jamerson, Gary Jamerson, Everett Jamerson, and Richard Matherly.  Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 A.M. My most sincere condolences to the family of Charles Marshall for their loss. Charles served his community with distinction as a sergeant on the Johnson City Police Department.
