C.W. Campbell

C.W. “Dub” Campbell, 82, Johnson City, went home to be with the lord Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at Life Care Center of Gray, after a brief illness. He was a native of Washington County, and a son of the late Sherman Roby and Lena Mae Taylor Campbell. Dub was a graduate of Science Hill High School and played on the baseball team, which was the start of his lifelong love of baseball. He was a NSA Softball Director and coached Babe Ruth and Little League for many years. Dub was a member of Grace Free-Will Baptist Church. When he was younger, he held multiple positions at Keystone Free Will Baptist Church including deacon, choir director, and youth leader. Dub was a sergeant in the US Army Reserves and worked as a journeyman carpenter. He retired from Hoover (Whirlpool) Company after working there for more than 30 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Lee Ball Campbell; two sons, Ricky Campbell and wife Charity, of Johnson City, and Randy Campbell and wife Michelle, of Johnson City; three grandchildren, Chris, Colt and Kacie Campbell all of Johnson City; three brothers, Jack Campbell and wife Diane of Morristown, Bill Campbell of Johnson City, and Ken Campbell of Morristown; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted Sunday, November 3, 2019, at 6:00 P.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Rev. Curtis Hurt and Rev. David Foster, officiating. Special music will be provided by the Hood family. The family will receive friends Sunday prior to the service from 4:00-6:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home. The graveside committal service will be held Monday, November 4, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those planning to attend are to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 A.M. to proceed to the cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2319 Browns Mill Rd.
