Byron Lee “Brother” Jones, 53, Johnson City, died unexpectedly Monday, December 21, 2020, at his residence. Byron was a Johnson City native and a former resident of Wilkesboro, NC before returning here in 2012. He was the son of the late Clinton and Alice Miller Jones. Byron was a 1985 graduate of David Crockett High School. He formerly worked in retail sales. Byron was a Baptist. He loved his cats. In addition to his parents, Byron was preceded in death by his partner, Steve Adams, in 2013, and a brother-in-law, Danny Carter. He is survived by two sisters, Melissa Jones Carter and Kathy Jones McPeck Crozier (Ron), all of Johnson City; one nephew, Chris Carter (Whitney), Kingsport; one niece, Hassie McPeck Howard (Cody), Hampton; three great-nieces, Makayla Millner, Johnson City, Aubree and Addyson Carter, Kingsport. It was Byron’s wishes to be cremated. There will be a graveside service for family and friends to celebrate his life at a later date.Read Obituary

This is so heartbreaking. I hope you are at peace, my friend. I’m sure your parents and Steve are reunited with you! I have so many fun memories of the two of us in our younger days. Byron....the first time I saw you ,you were just a tiny ,wiggly little thing born on my wedding day. I wasn’t really into babies then but I very quickly grew attached to you and stayed that way...thank you for the many years of love and welcome and good times when I came to visit or just about lived there when I was pregnant with Susan....you were one of a kind and my heart hurts now because I miss you ....fly high my precious boy.....I love you big !!!!
